Why We are Here
The short answer is that we are here for the glory of God. We pray every day in the Lord’s Prayer, “Hallowed be Your name and Your Kingdom come”. We want to see the Lord’s name hallowed in Sunderland through faithful Biblical worship and souls being saved to His glory. We likewise want to see His kingdom grow and so when we consider that Sunderland has 300,000 souls, just a few Gospel preaching churches, and no Presbyterian church we naturally wanted to plant one. It’s also encourages us to know we stand on the shoulders of giants. There’s a rich history of Christianity in the city going back to the time of Bede and his fellow monks - we believe that God is still answering 1300 years of the saints prayers and displaying his covenantal faithfulness to the families of Sunderland. Finally, I am a native. I was born in Sunderland. My life was transformed by the gospel of Jesus when I was twenty-two. The Lord has since called me to gospel ministry and I have no doubt as to His awesome power to redeem men, women, boys and girls. I want others to taste and see that the Lord is good!
